In 2015, the Wanang Conservation Area received the UN Development Programme Equator Prize, a prestigious international award that recognizes “outstanding local achievement in advancing sustainable development solutions for people, nature and resilient communities”. Wanang is one of 21 conservation projects awarded, selected from over 1,400 applications.
