SUMMARY
Brian Tonny holds a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, majoring in Para-Veterinary Science and Animal Health Management, from the Papua New Guinea University of Natural Resources and Environment (PNGUNRE). He is currently an EU-FCCB Master’s Scholar undertaking postgraduate research at PNGUNRE.
His research, “The Prevalence of Gastrointestinal Parasites in Beef Cattle and Their Distribution Across Age at PNGUNRE and Warangoi Cattle Farm in East New Britain Province of Papua New Guinea,” addresses a significant challenge to cattle health and productivity across tropical regions. Gastrointestinal parasites cause reduced growth rates, weakened immunity, and considerable economic losses for livestock farmers. By investigating parasite prevalence and age-related distribution patterns, Brian’s research aims to generate evidence that can inform more effective parasite control strategies and contribute to the sustainable development of the livestock sector in Papua New Guinea.
